The Patriot Anglers, along with our partners, are providing a free day of ice fishing in the Rocky Mountains for all Veterans and their support persons, which may include family or friends. Vets on Ice is designed to provide both an education, and the equipment necessary for participants to try their hand at ice fishing. Also all anglers will enjoy a free BBQ, and many fishing prizes courtesy our generous supporters.
Vets on Ice event exists to assist Veterans and their family support group in finding a healthy and positive way to cope with post deployment and military issues via outdoor recreation. Veteran suicide, divorce, depression, and homeless rates are at all-time highs with 22 Veterans a day committing suicide. With millions of Veterans returning home from more than a decade of war, there is a great need to find alternative ways for Veterans to cope with their post deployment issues. Due to the vast number of Veterans, there is a great desire for therapeutic fishing expeditions like Vets on Ice.
